Synopsis

After barely escaping a catastrophic encounter with a massive Gauna that kills countless crew members, Captain Kobayashi of the Sidonia consolidates her political power and sets her sights on eliminating the Gauna threat in the Lem system, where Sidonians have started building a new colony. She's got two major advantages now: cutting-edge long-range weapons designed specifically to kill Gaunas, and Tsumugi Shiraui—a human-Gauna hybrid soldier with incredible combat potential. The plan faces pushback, especially regarding the existence of chimeras, but Kobayashi brings aboard Nagate Tanikaze, a talented new pilot. Because of his past connection to Shizuka Hoshijiro and his exposure to Benisuzume's placenta, Tanikaze quickly forms a strong attachment to Tsumugi. As the confrontation with humanity's deadliest enemy looms, Tanikaze tries to spend quality time with his friend Izana Shinatose during what might be their last peaceful days. Meanwhile, Kobayashi is quietly developing an experimental weapon—one that might not just destroy the Gaunas, but could obliterate Sidonia itself.
