The world's greatest blue sapphire—the "Blue Lapis Fist"—supposedly sank with a pirate ship off Singapore's coast in the late 1800s. A local millionaire wants it back, and when the gem surfaces at an exhibition in Marina Sands hotel, someone gets murdered. A bloody Kaitou Kid calling card turns up at the scene. Ran and Sonoko are in Singapore for a karate tournament. Conan was stuck at home without a passport, but Kid had other plans. The thief uses a magic trick to drag him to Singapore anyway, then steals his glasses, watch, clothes—basically everything. To survive and get home, Conan has to go along with Kid's schemes and stay disguised. When Ran asks his name, he makes up "Arthur Hirai" on the spot. Kid eventually finds out the sapphire's locked in an underground vault beneath a manor. Seems like an easy score—until he realizes the place is rigged with traps. Even worse, he's about to come face-to-face with Makoto Kyogoku, an undefeated karateka with 400 straight wins under his belt.
