Synopsis

The final battle against the Dark Territory shows no signs of ending. Players from around the world are flooding into the Underworld, turning the Human Empire into a warzone. Asuna and her friends are fighting hard to protect their new allies, but they're getting overwhelmed and their forces keep dwindling. At the same time, Alice is making her way to the World's End Altar with Gabriel Miller hot on her heels. Back at Rath's headquarters, the team is working frantically to repair Kirito's damaged fluctlight—but they've got intruders in the control room who have their own agenda. With chaos and death closing in from all sides, just when everything looks hopeless, Kirito hears a familiar voice: "I will always be by your side." This season wraps up Akihiko Kayaba's vision of creating true artificial intelligence. Now Kirito and his friends have to figure out how to save this dying world from players who still think it's nothing but a game.
