Synopsis

Gen Kudou makes kotos for a living and figures his delinquent grandson Chika is too much of a mess to ever appreciate the instrument. Wanting to honor his late grandfather's memory and understand what he was trying to tell him, Chika decides to join the koto club at Tokise High School. The club desperately needs members, but its new president Takezou Kurata isn't thrilled about letting some delinquent kid join. When he sees how genuine Chika's passion actually is, though, Takezou lets him in—along with Satowa Houzuki, a naturally talented koto player, and a few of Chika's rowdy friends. From there, Kono Oto Tomare! follows this ragtag group as they work toward competing in the nationals.
