Thirty years ago, flame-wielding mutants called the Burnish suddenly emerged and devastated humanity. They've kept appearing ever since, leaving destruction wherever they go. Promepolis, an autonomous republic, has thrived largely because of its leader Kray Foresight's success against the Burnish threat. The Burning Rescue—an elite firefighting unit equipped with cutting-edge tech built by their brilliant mechanic Lucia Fex—is tasked with taking them down. Galo Thymos, an enthusiastic rookie, just joined the team. He idolizes Foresight for saving his life as a kid. Things get complicated when a terrorist group called Mad Burnish starts wreaking havoc across the nation. After a run-in with Mad Burnish's leader, Lio Fotia, Galo becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth about the Burnish. What he discovers forces him to question everything he thought he believed.
