Now it's thriving as a maritime nation, with coastal cities connected by bustling sea routes patrolled by specialized naval forces. The marine industry is booming, and young women dream of joining the Blue Mermaids—an elite organization dedicated to protecting the seas. Childhood friends Akeno Misaki and Moeka China reunite at Yokosuka Girls' Marine High School, where they train alongside other aspiring Blue Mermaids. Things seem to be going great when Akeno takes command of the Harekaze, a destroyer ship, and starts building a solid crew. But then their ship hits a snag—engine and navigation failures strand them in dangerous waters.
