Synopsis

Class 77-B at Hope's Peak Academy is getting a new homeroom teacher: Chisa Yukizome, a cheerful former student whose talent is being the ultimate housekeeper. She's got her work cut out for her—the class is a chaotic mix of personalities ranging from pampered royalty to yakuza members to a girl whose only power is being absurdly lucky. But Chisa's determined to whip them into shape and get everyone to actually care about each other. Meanwhile, there's Hajime Hinata, an ordinary student stuck in the Reserve Course who desperately wants to matter. When he crosses paths with Chiaki Nanami, a gamer from class 77-B, she shows him a different way to think about life and gives him genuine hope. Seems nice, right? Except the school's higher-ups have something much darker planned. They're about to set their sights on Hajime for a project that'll drag Hope's Peak—and basically the entire world—straight into hell. Zetsubou-hen shows you the day-to-day life at this talent academy while slowly peeling back the layers to reveal what's really going on underneath. As despair starts creeping into every corner, the groundwork gets laid for what might be the worst catastrophe humanity's ever faced. This is where everything falls apart.
