Ruti's finally gotten her life back after ditching the obsessive demands of her Blessing. Now she's living peacefully in the border town of Zoltan with Tisse, her assassin roommate, and reconnecting with her brother Red—the former Guide from her adventuring days. Red's doing great too, happily coupled up with Princess Rit and planning to propose. But their quiet existence gets disrupted when a new Hero arrives in town, and this one takes his Blessing way too seriously. His zealous interpretation of what he's supposed to do starts causing real problems for Zoltan and everyone in it.
