Synopsis

Chieri is a sixth grader living alone with her mother after her father's death when she was young. Her only real companion has been Cherry, a stuffed doll she found in a storage shed during her father's funeral. In her imagination, Cherry talks to her, plays with her, and gives her the guidance and protection she lost when her dad died. When Chieri visits her grandmother's house for the first time in years to attend a memorial service for her father, she discovers a stray dog about to have puppies. But a crow and a strange creature show up, determined to take the pups. Now Chieri and Cherry have to figure out how to protect them.
