The government's looking to bring in outsiders and put them in positions based on what they can actually do—all part of modernizing a pretty backward country and building something new. Zuo Yunqi is just your average young master, but he's desperate to save his father, so he fakes being an outsider to sneak into the government. Problem is, someone gets hired specifically to root out fakes, and this guy sees right through him. What follows is basically a series of comedic run-ins as they try to outwit each other, but they eventually team up. While they're investigating some shady conspiracy, they stumble onto the real problem: a bunch of the outsiders have secretly banded together planning to overthrow the government and create their own equal, peaceful society. Zuo Yunqi and his crew get pulled into the conflict whether they like it or not.
