Fourteen-year-old Mimu Emilton shows up at the annual Starland Festival determined to become an idol like her hero, Yuri—who's now President of Earth and actively recruiting talented performers. The festival is basically the biggest deal on the planet. But Mimu's got terrible luck. She keeps getting tangled up in embarrassing situations (usually involving her clothes flying off) on her way to her audition, though she manages to befriend the current Excellent Idols who keep pulling her out of trouble. Just when she finally gets on stage to audition, aliens show up and kidnap her along with all the idols. What follows is a chaotic interdimensional adventure that somehow ends up being humanity's best shot at survival—assuming Mimu can learn to believe in herself.
