Comic Girls
Kaoruko "Chaos" Moeta is a struggling manga artist trying to break into the industry with stories about high school girls—except her work is pretty generic. Her editor, tired of watching her spin her wheels, pushes her to get out more and actually live a little. The solution? Move into a dorm specifically for female manga artists. There, Chaos meets three other residents: Tsubasa, who draws action-packed shounen manga; Ruki, whose erotic manga has actually built a female fanbase; and Koyume, a shoujo artist who, like Chaos, is still chasing her first serialization. The four quickly become close friends, and suddenly Chaos has actual experiences and inspiration to draw from instead of just recycled ideas. Comic Girls follows these four as they navigate the day-to-day chaos of being manga artists—the deadlines, the self-doubt, the small victories. Will Chaos finally land her big break? Nobody knows yet. But living under one roof, they're all pushing each other to improve and make it in an industry that doesn't always make it easy.
