That's when everything goes wrong—he witnesses a brutal car chase and shootout, all triggered by a single "lucky" card. Turns out, the world is secretly ruled by a deck of 52 X-Playing cards. Each one grants its holder different superpowers drawn from an inner force called a "buddy." A covert group called High Card has been tasked by the king of Fourland to hunt down these scattered cards, and they do it while posing as employees of a luxury car company called Pinochle. They recruit Finn as their fifth member, and he's suddenly caught up in a high-stakes race to collect them all. But Pinochle isn't alone in this hunt. Who's Who, a rival automaker desperate to take Pinochle down, and the Klondikes—a ruthless mafia outfit—are also after the cards. What follows is an intense, messy battle between card-obsessed players driven by justice, ambition, and revenge. The motto's simple: manners, dignity, and the guts to bet everything on yourself.
