Synopsis

Nishi spots his high school ex-girlfriend Myon getting her ankle crushed in a subway door. When they reconnect, he's devastated to find out she's engaged. He agrees to meet her fiancé at her family's yakitori restaurant, but the Yakuza show up, and Nishi gets killed trying to protect Myon from assault. After dying, Nishi encounters a shape-shifting god who offers him oblivion. Instead of accepting, he bolts past the deity and comes back to life—now armed with foreknowledge of what's about to happen. He kills one of the yakuza with his own gun and escapes in a stolen car with Myon and her sister. Masaaki Yuasa's directorial debut is a visually wild ride that explores living without regret through a story unlike anything else out there.
