The Vision of Escaflowne
Tenkuu no Escaflowne
Hitomi Kanzaki is your typical 15-year-old who's into tarot and fortune telling—nothing special. That changes one night when a guy named Van Fanel literally falls from the sky with a dragon chasing him. Hitomi gets a sudden vision that helps Van kill the beast, but then a burst of light swallows them both up. Next thing she knows, she's stranded on Gaea, a whole other world where Earth floats in the sky like a second moon. Turns out Van is a prince of Fanelia, and his kingdom is about to get crushed by the Zaibach Empire. He pilots a giant mecha called Escaflowne to fight back, but it's not enough—Fanelia falls anyway. On the run with Hitomi, Van runs into Allen Schezar, a charming knight from Asturia. Hitomi's freaked out because Allen is basically a dead ringer for the guy she had a crush on back home. From there, Van, Hitomi, and their growing group of allies are caught up in a war against Zaibach, who's hunting for some ancient power to tip the scales in their favor.
