Synopsis

This is a sports manga that stands out for focusing on ordinary kids rather than exceptional heroes. It follows the Sumiya 2 junior high baseball team—specifically their captains and players—as they develop and grow in downtown Tokyo. Takao Taniguchi transfers to Sumiya 2 after being a bench player on Aoba Gakuin's second team, one of the most prestigious baseball schools around. He becomes captain of his new team's club and, after putting in serious training with the squad, they make it to the finals of the regional preliminaries where they face off against his old school, Aoba Gakuin.
