Synopsis

In a newly unified empire under the Qin Emperor, young orphan Jing Tianming and his protector Ge Nie are hunted fugitives. Nie was once Qin's greatest swordsman before being branded a traitor, while Tianming struggles with a mysterious illness. Despite the danger closing in, Nie won't abandon the boy—he made a promise long ago. When imperial forces send three hundred soldiers after them, Nie takes them all down single-handedly but nearly dies from his injuries. As Tianming desperately tries to keep him alive, they cross paths with Xiang Shaoyu, an arrogant but capable fighter from the defeated Chu Kingdom. Shaoyu's driven by a need to restore his people's honor, and he joins their desperate search for safety. They eventually find it with the Mohists, a secretive faction actively opposing Qin's rule. While the Mohists patch Nie up, the Qin Emperor brings in Wei Zhuang—a calculating former rival of Nie's and fellow student of their old master. Wei Zhuang leads a group of skilled assassins tasked with one mission: eliminate Tianming and everyone protecting him.
