Synopsis

Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki are just ordinary middle school students living ordinary lives—until they meet Kyuubey, a mysterious cat-like creature, and Homura Akemi, a new transfer student who's hiding something. Kyuubey's offer sounds too good to be true: grant them one wish of their choosing, and in return, they'll become magical girls with the power to make their dreams reality. But Homura, who's already a magical girl herself, has a warning. She tells them to refuse, insisting that things aren't nearly as simple as they seem. What unfolds is a story about hope, despair, and the bonds between friends—one that doesn't shy away from showing just how brutal the life of a magical girl really is, and what you actually have to sacrifice to get what you want.
