Synopsis

Arata, a noble kid from Amawakuni, thought his future was set—until the princess fell ill. Turns out his grandmother had registered him as a girl at birth, and with the Hime clan having no other female heirs, he's suddenly the next in line for the throne. Forced to pose as a woman while they search for a replacement, Arata witnesses the princess's own guard—the 12 Shinsho—try to assassinate her. The blame lands on him, and he has to flee into the dangerous Kando forest, a place known for changing people forever. At the same time, in modern Japan, another Arata Hinohara is stuck dealing with bullies at school. When he hears someone calling his name from an alley, he follows it and accidentally switches places with the Arata from Amawakuni. Now trapped in this fantasy world, Hinohara discovers he's a "Sho"—a warrior who can use Hayagami, divine weapons—and teams up with companions he meets along the way. Together, they work to restore peace to this strange new world.
