Synopsis

Shuurei Kou comes from a noble family that's basically broke. She's smart and wants to become a government official—something that could actually help her country—but that path is closed to women. Her father works as a palace archivist for almost nothing, so Shuurei picks up whatever jobs she can find just to keep them afloat. Everything changes when she gets an unexpected offer. The new emperor, Ryuuki Shi, needs a consort, and he's willing to pay handsomely. The catch? Ryuuki's known for avoiding his responsibilities and doesn't exactly care about the job.
