Synopsis

Corrupt politicians, nationalist extremists, and warmongering factions constantly threaten to destabilize the fragile peace between the neighboring countries of Ostania and Westalis. A legendary spy known as "Twilight" takes on one dangerous mission after another, driven by a single goal: ensuring that children never have to live through war. In the Ostanian capital of Berlint, Twilight assumes the identity of Loid Forger, a respected psychiatrist. His real objective is to get close to Donovan Desmond, a powerful politician who rarely leaves his mansion except to attend his sons' school—the exclusive Eden Academy. To pull this off, Loid recruits Yor Briar, a single city hall employee, to be his wife, and adopts Anya, a sharp-witted six-year-old orphan, as his daughter. The plan is simple: get Anya into Eden Academy, have her succeed academically, and use those parent-teacher events to finally meet Desmond without raising any red flags. The problem is, even Twilight struggles with actually being a father and husband. And he's not the only one hiding things. Yor is secretly "Thorn Princess," a lethal assassin-for-hire. Anya is an esper who can read minds. Nobody's telling the truth about who they really are. Yet somehow, despite being built entirely on lies, this makeshift family starts to genuinely care about each other—and eventually, that bond becomes more important than any of their secrets.
