Hayato Hayasugi—whose surname is basically a pun meaning "too fast"—is one of several kids selected to pilot the Shinkalion, transformers based on real Japanese bullet trains. These robot trains transform to battle mysterious threats and keep Japan safe. Working alongside the adults at the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute, Hayato and the other child pilots have to take down a sinister jet-black bullet train monster.
