Hinako Sakuragi grew up in rural Japan as a shy, anxious girl who basically turns into a wooden statue whenever she has to talk to someone new. After seeing a play on a school field trip, she becomes determined to overcome her shyness through theater. So she moves to Tokyo, enrolls at Fujiyama High School, and fully plans to join their famous theater club. Unfortunately, the theater club is currently shut down, leaving Hina stuck and disappointed. That's when Chiaki Hagino, the landlady of her apartment building Hitotose Manor, steps in and suggests they start their own theater group using the other residents as cast members. The series follows Hina as she settles into her new life in Tokyo, attends Fujiyama High, and learns theater alongside her newfound friends at the manor.
