Synopsis

It's 1931, and somehow the Tokugawa Shogunate is still running Japan—we're 64 years into the Meiji era now. The government's got a stranglehold on a newly discovered power source called the "Dragon Vein," which is basically letting them push Japan toward some kind of advanced, modernized Edo period. To keep things under control, they've got an elite execution squad called "Nue" whose job is to take down rebels from an opposing faction known as "Kuchinawa." On the surface, Sawa Yukimura just runs the Tsuyukasa Bookshop like any normal shop owner. But that's cover. Really, she's hunting down the man responsible for wiping out her entire tribe and family. Since she's got blue blood that gives her the ability to transform, Nue recruits her with an offer she can't refuse: they'll help her find Janome, the leader of Kuchinawa and the person she's after.
