In a future where genetically engineered "Nanorace" people with built-in nanomachines are oppressed by regular humans—the "Purerace"—there's a legendary hunter named Beck who wants to become fully human through surgery. His ability, called "Red Ash," makes him powerful, but he's tired of what he is. He and Tyger, a nervous but capable mechanic, travel the world in their flying machine taking on risky jobs. When they meet Call, a girl being hunted by two agents named Safari and Stripe, things get complicated. The three end up together heading toward a strange clockwork world, but Safari and Stripe won't give up the chase. Their boss Deny joins in, and soon Beck and his crew are facing a direct confrontation with their pursuers.
