Divine Gate
The Divine Gate is an old legend about three worlds—the living world, heaven, and the underworld—colliding and merging together. People called Adapters are born from this collision with special elemental powers, and they founded the World Council to keep things under control. The Council runs an academy where Adapters train and develop their abilities, while publicly treating the whole Divine Gate thing as just a fairy tale. Aoto is a powerful water-using teenager with some serious baggage in his past. He keeps turning down the academy's recruitment until his persistent friends Midori (a wind user) and Akane (a fire user) wear him down enough to say yes. The three of them end up joining forces with the World Council and their enigmatic leader Arthur to track down the actual Divine Gate and learn what's really going on. It's not a straightforward mission though—they've got their own demons to work through, and someone's actively working against them behind the scenes.
