Synopsis

Humanity once turned to a demon in desperation when the gods wouldn't help. It came with the sword Zsoltgewinn, supposedly to save them—but the blade's insatiable hunger for blood meant it killed indiscriminately, including those who'd summoned it. The sword got sealed away centuries ago, but the Shoshidai, an organization that collects cursed weapons, eventually dug it back up. Problem is, Zsoltgewinn is way too powerful for humans to control. Its corrupting influence spreads to Takuma Miura, an administrator at the organization, and he bolts with the sword. Gai Ogata's family wasn't so lucky. His father and mother were both destroyed by possession of another demonic sword called Shiryu—his father was murdered, and his mother killed herself not long after giving birth. Gai was abandoned in the forest still clutching the blade until a blacksmith named Amon found him. Something about the sword obsessed Gai, and he spent years becoming an expert smith, desperate to understand it. Then an accident cost him his arm, but he replaced it with something worse: Shiryu itself, reforged into a prosthetic limb. So now Gai's got a cursed sword grafted where his arm used to be, and he's got to learn how to keep it from controlling him. Meanwhile, Zsoltgewinn's still out there with Takuma, cutting through people and leaving bodies in its wake.
