Thunderbirds 2086
Kagaku Kyuujo-tai TechnoVoyager
Thunderbirds 2086 is set about twenty years after the original series and follows an international rescue team called the Thunderbirds. This time around, they work for the International Rescue Organisation—a massive, UN-like body called the Federation—rather than the small, family-run operation from the original show. While there's no explicit connection between the two series, it's pretty much assumed the original International Rescue just grew into this larger version over the decades. Notably, the Tracy family doesn't appear in the animated series at all, and "Thunderbirds" actually refers to the team itself here, not just their vehicles like it did before. The basic formula stays the same: most episodes center on some disaster—natural or man-made—that the team has to handle. But the animated series adds an ongoing storyline involving a rogue independence movement called the Shadow Axis, led by a mysterious figure known as Star Crusher. There's strong suggestion throughout that Star Crusher isn't even human, possibly some kind of alien.
