Synopsis

Twenty-year-old Keitarou Urashima has struck out twice on the Tokyo University entrance exam. He's haunted by a childhood promise to get into the school with a girl he can't quite remember, and his future's looking pretty bleak. When his grandmother calls asking him to manage her inn, he figures a change of scenery might be just what he needs to buckle down and finally pass. Except the inn isn't an inn anymore—it's a girls' dormitory. And he's now living with five of them. There's Naru, who's also aiming for Tokyo U; Mitsune, a laid-back freelance writer with a mischievous streak; Kaolla, an energetic engineer; Shinobu, a shy girl struggling to find her place; and Motoko, a serious kendo practitioner. They're not exactly thrilled to have a guy moving in, but somehow he ends up becoming the building's manager anyway. Despite the rocky start, Keitarou settles into his new life and gradually gets to know each of the girls. He's still determined to track down his childhood sweetheart and make good on that old promise—but between juggling five very different personalities and his studies, he's got his hands full.
