Patalliro!
Patarillo! Patarillo! takes place in a world basically like ours, except for one big difference: it's adapted from a shoujo manga that's packed with gorgeous guys and queer characters. Most of the story happens in Marinera, a tropical island nation with perpetual spring weather and a massive diamond mining operation. The mines are owned by King Patarillo himself—a short guy with a big personality and even bigger ambitions. The real problem is the International Diamond Syndicate, a shadowy criminal organization that wants to monopolize the world's diamond supply. They're obsessed with taking over Marinera's mines and keep sending beautiful assassins after the young king. So Patarillo needs protection, which is where Major Jack Bancoran comes in. He's a British MI6 agent and professional bodyguard, though he's infamous for a particular talent: every guy under 17 finds him irresistible, much to his constant frustration. Patarillo included. The story bounces around constantly—between Marinera, MI6 headquarters in London, Bancoran's fancy suburban house, and randomly into the past, future, and outer space. The guy really gets around. The whole thing's got a campy, action-packed vibe with stylish visuals inspired by classic sci-fi aesthetics.
