Synopsis

After her grandfather dies, Hamaji Ooyama retreats to a solitary life in the mountains, hunting and fending for herself. When her brother—an ambitious samurai in Edo—invites her to the city, she accepts. But the reunion doesn't go as planned. Instead of a warm welcome, she's greeted with six severed dog heads on display: the remains of the Fuse, a group of eight human-dog hybrids wreaking havoc across Edo. On her way to her brother's place, Hamaji helps a mysterious man escape from attackers. When she finally reaches her brother, he reveals his real reason for calling her there: he wants her help hunting down the last two Fuse for their heads and the Shogunate's bounty. The problem is that the Fuse blend seamlessly into human society—and that helpful stranger Hamaji just saved? He's showing every sign of being one of them.
