Folklore is full of stories about foxes tricking and deceiving people. But maybe that's just humans projecting their own suspicions onto animals they don't really understand. One winter day, siblings Shirou and Kanko meet a young fox named Konzaburou while playing in the fields. At first they're wary—foxes have that reputation, after all—but they end up befriending him. He invites them to catch an evening performance the foxes are putting on in the forest, and they accept.
