A major research facility there is working on some kind of new energy project, and the chief scientist's 12-year-old daughter, Amami Kurau, gets invited to watch the experiments on her birthday. Things go wrong fast—she gets hit by twin beams of light during the incident. When the dust settles, her father realizes his daughter isn't quite his daughter anymore.
