Yasashii Lion
This anime adapts Yanase Takashi's picture book about an unlikely friendship between Muku-muku, a mother dog grieving her lost puppy, and Buru-buru, a baby lion who's lost her mother. Osamu Tezuka had bigger plans—he wanted to develop this into a full musical series that would really dig into the emotional bond between these two characters. Unfortunately, this was the only adaptation that actually got made, and it never even finished production.
