Synopsis

It's 972 A.D. in Kyoto, and the imperial capital is falling apart. Corrupt samurai and onmyoji are everywhere, scheming for power while the city starves and disease spreads unchecked. The Imperial Court finally decides something has to be done, so they send word to Minamoto no Raiko—a legendary samurai famous for his archery—asking him to find a mystical gem that's supposedly powerful enough to save the world. Problem is, Raiko gets sick. So his youngest sister Hikaru takes matters into her own hands and sneaks off on the quest herself. Along the way, she meets all sorts of people and gets caught up in various adventures as she searches for the gem.
