Bai Ze, a brilliant healer from Kunlun, was exiled seven years ago after an experiment went catastrophically wrong—he'd accidentally destroyed an entire healing island while trying to protect it from the Dark Spirits, a poisonous essence that corrupts the mind. Now, just as he's ready to vindicate himself through his research, he gets framed and forced to flee back to that same ruined island. There he meets Yi, a young qilin searching for a cure to his mysteriously growing horn. The condition is eating away at him, and he's barely holding back the Dark Spirits' corruption.
