Synopsis

Shen Yuan's read enough xianxia novels to see the formula coming a mile away—protagonist walks the demonic path, gets revenge on his awful master, collects a bunch of lovers. So when he suddenly finds himself transported into the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way, he thinks he knows exactly what's about to happen. Except he's not the protagonist. He's the scumbag master who's supposed to get humiliated and destroyed. Now stuck as Shen Qingqiu, a cultivation master, Shen Yuan decides his best bet for survival is to prevent his student Luo Binghe from ever wanting revenge in the first place. But the original Shen Qingqiu was genuinely awful, and the moment Shen Yuan tries to act out of character, a system kicks in to stop him—something designed to keep him from breaking the plot. It's basically a cage. So he's got to somehow befriend Luo Binghe and protect him from all the terrible things that are supposed to happen to the kid, all while being forced to stay somewhat true to the cruel bastard he's replacing. It's an impossible balance, and Shen Yuan's got his hands full.
