Synopsis

A bombing hits Nichiuri TV in the fall, right in the middle of filming the Satsuki Cup—Japan's championship tournament for Hyakunin Isshu, a traditional poetry card game. The explosion traps Heiji and Kazuha inside the burning building, but Conan arrives just in time to save them. The bomber's identity and motive remain a mystery. During the chaos, Conan meets a striking girl named Momiji Ooka who introduces herself as Heiji's fiancée. She's Kyoto High School's top Karuta player, and as luck would have it, she's set to face Kazuha in the Hyakunin Isshu competition. Kazuha starts intensive training with Heiji's mother, Shizuka, who's an accomplished player herself. Meanwhile, the reigning Satsuki Cup champion is found dead at a traditional house in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Photos from the crime scene show Momiji at the location, and Hyakunin Isshu cards are scattered around the body. Conan and Heiji team up with both the Osaka and Kyoto police to investigate the bombing and the murder. As they dig deeper, they uncover a hidden secret tied to the Hyakunin Isshu.
