Makoto Maegami is a shy fifth grader who one day finds a mysterious furry ball stuck to his head. After it eats one of his buttons, the creature transforms into an alien-like being named Gonjiro. Turns out Gonjiro can shapeshift into just about anything, which comes in handy since he's determined to help Makoto out of whatever trouble the kid gets into. What follows is a series of misadventures as Gonjiro uses his shapeshifting powers to bail his new friend out of sticky situations.
