Synopsis

Ryouhei Arisu is a directionless high school student who's convinced his life is meaningless and just wants out. One night, he's hanging with his friends Daikichi Karube and Chouta Segawa when they spot a massive firework explode across the sky—something that turns out to be a point of no return. The blast blinds them, and suddenly they're in the Borderland, a place where the only residents are people forced to play lethal games to survive. As Ryouhei and his friends start figuring out the rules and trying to get home, something unexpected happens: for the first time in his life, Ryouhei actually feels alive.
