Synopsis

Mario and Luigi run a grocery store. One night, while Mario's absorbed in his Famicom game, the TV cuts out and Princess Peach appears on screen, desperately calling for help as enemies attack her. She jumps straight out of the TV. Mario immediately falls for her and promises to protect her, but Koopa shows up on the screen moments later, drags Peach back into the TV, and disappears with her. All that's left behind is a small brooch Peach dropped. The next morning, Mario's still thinking about the brooch when Luigi spots it and recognizes it as the legendary "Visionary Jewel from the Country of Treasure." Then a small dog-like creature named Kibidango wanders into their store, sees that Mario has the brooch, and snatches it right from him. Furious, Mario chases after Kibidango—with Luigi right behind him—as they're pulled into the Mushroom Kingdom.
