Synopsis

Back in 1989, Japan's government passed the Media Betterment Act, which gave a military group called the Media Betterment Committee the power to destroy and censor whatever they deemed "problematic" media. In response, regional governments formed the Library Defense Force to fight back and protect freedom of expression. The LDF's Kanto branch has an elite unit called the Library Task Force—basically their best of the best. Iku Kasahara got a taste of this censorship nightmare as a high schooler when she refused to hand over her favorite manga to MBC agents. An LDF member stepped in and saved her and her book. Years later, now in her twenties and still thinking about her mysterious savior, Kasahara joins the LDF herself, hoping to become someone like him. The training is brutal though, way harder than she expected. Her instructor, Atsushi Doujou from the LTF, seems determined to make her miserable. So when Doujou recommends her as one of the two new LTF recruits, Kasahara is completely blindsided. Now she's got to prove she belongs in the unit while trying to figure out what her infuriating superior is really thinking—all while fighting on actual battlefields and dealing with her own personal drama.
