Synopsis

Eleven-year-old Anne Shirley is an orphan who's bounced around from family to family, desperately wanting a real home. When she arrives at Green Gables, a farm in the small town of Avonlea, to live with siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, there's an immediate problem: they were expecting a boy to help with chores, not an imaginative, talkative girl with a dramatic streak. But Anne's spirited personality and quick mind gradually win the Cuthberts over. She throws herself into her new life—going to school, making friends, and figuring out what it means to grow up—all while finally having a place where she belongs.
