Synopsis

Kid the Phantom Thief has announced his next target: a Japanese sword owned by the wealthy Onoe Family in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Conan and Heiji Hattori happen to be in town and immediately set out to catch him. The sword supposedly has ties to Toshizo Hijikata, a historical figure who died in Hakodate—but that's strange, since Kid usually steals jewels. Why would he be interested in a sword? Things get complicated when the Onoe Family's lawyer is found murdered in a warehouse, killed with a Japanese sword. The suspect is an arms dealer and investor who's apparently searching for the family's hidden treasure. Here's where it gets interesting: the current patriarch's grandfather was involved in Japan's wartime military industry and allegedly hid a weapon somewhere in Hakodate—something powerful enough to "change the course of war." Could that be what Kid is actually after? Meanwhile, Heiji's got his own thing going on. He's desperately trying to find the perfect moment to confess his feelings to Kazuha. The hunt begins amid Hakodate's cherry blossoms.
