Onmyoudou magic was once Japan's secret weapon during World War II, a powerful technique meant to give the nation a decisive edge. That all changed when the legendary onmyouji Yakou Tsuchimikado triggered the "Great Spiritual Disaster"—a catastrophic event that still haunts Tokyo today. The fallout led to the creation of the Onmyou Agency, tasked with preventing future spiritual disasters and dealing with the demons that started leaking into the world. Since then, onmyoudou has evolved significantly. It's been modernized, streamlined, and adapted for practical use in everything from medicine to technology. But talent is required to practice it, and Harutora, a member of a branch family of the Tsuchimikado clan, never had any. There's an old promise hanging over him—he's supposed to be the familiar for Natsume, the main family heir and the rumored reincarnation of Yakou himself. Problem is, Harutora's talentless and would rather just live a normal life. That changes when someone at the Onmyou Agency starts trying to recreate the same experiment that destroyed Japan in the first place. Harutora finally decides to step up and honor his promise, fighting alongside Natsume to stop it.
