Tetsujin 28-gou
Dr. Haneda was building giant combat robots for Japan during World War II, but Allied bombing destroyed his lab and killed him before the machines could be deployed. Years later, in the 1950s, criminals found two of the surviving prototypes and started using them for robberies and other crimes. Shotaro Haneda, the doctor's twelve-year-old son, got curious and started digging into what was going on. He realized the crooks were after robot #28—supposedly the strongest one ever built. He managed to find it first and teamed up with Dr. Shikashima, his father's old colleague who'd also supposedly died in the bombing. Together they kept the robot, officially called Tetsujin-28, away from the mob and decided to use it to fight crime instead of for war. For years after that, Shotaro operated Tetsujin-28 with backup from Dr. Shikashima, who handled repairs, and a sympathetic cop named Otsuka. Things escalated when aliens called the Magmans invaded from their home planet, bringing their own giant robots to Earth. That turned out to be one of Shotaro's toughest challenges yet.
