Synopsis

Rising sea levels have swallowed most of the world's habitable land, leaving humanity clinging to survival with whatever old technology they can salvage. Natsuki Ikaruga, a gifted recent graduate who lost his leg in a submarine accident, has ended up stuck on a remote, nearly empty island—a far cry from the life he imagined. When a mysterious woman named Catherine crosses his path, Natsuki discovers an advanced humanoid robot hidden away. It turns out the android, who goes by Atri and looks like a young girl, once belonged to his grandmother Nonko, a famous climatologist. Atri was apparently programmed to help Nonko with something important, but she can't remember what. Natsuki's first instinct is to sell her for cash, but the chance to reconnect with his grandmother's work through Atri makes him reconsider. He'd given up his own scientific dreams years ago for other reasons, but helping Atri and getting to know the other islanders better starts to change his perspective. Maybe there's still a way for him to contribute something meaningful to this broken world.
