Steamboy
It's the height of the Victorian era, and Britain's booming with industrial steam-powered energy. James Ray Steam—living up to his family name—grows up in Manchester surrounded by factories, where he spends his time tinkering with stolen parts and helping out where he can. Then one day a mysterious package arrives from his grandfather, who's been working overseas in America with James's father. Inside is a strange ball with a valve attached to it. Things go downhill fast. The O'Hara Foundation shows up at his house demanding the ball, and James has no idea what's going on or why they want it so badly. He bolts, heading for the home of Robert Stephenson, an old contact of his grandfather's, with the Foundation's people chasing him down. Now James has to figure out what this ball actually does and why half the British Empire seems determined to get their hands on it.
