It's 1868 when English nobleman George Joestar and his young son Jonathan survive a carriage accident—thanks to Dario Brando, or so they think. In reality, Dario assumed they were dead and was just looting the wreckage. Fast forward twelve years: Dario dies, and George, feeling obligated to repay the debt, takes in Dio, his orphaned son. Dio plays the perfect foster son in public while secretly plotting to drain the Joestar fortune. His strategy is simple—drive a wedge between George and Jonathan by constantly outshining him. It works, and Dio solidifies his position in the family. That is, until he pushes Jonathan too far and gets beaten down in a fight. By all appearances, the two grow into close friends as adults. But when George suddenly falls ill, Jonathan starts to suspect Dio had something to do with it. And judging by Dio's behavior, there's clearly more trouble coming.
