This movie is an alternate take on the "Satsuriku no Deep Blue" arc from the 1997 Kindaichi Case Files TV series. Kindaichi, Miyuki, and Fumi get invited to Deep Blue Island's resort by their upperclassman Akane, whose father heads the Aizawa Group. A crew of criminals shows up posing as hotel staff, planning to assassinate the Aizawa Group members. Thing is, the criminals have never met their boss face-to-face, and they have no idea he's actually at the hotel with the very people they're supposed to kill.
